The following was shared to the Pirate National Committee on Oct. 18th (a date in which no meeting was held due to lack of quorum):
To the members of the Pirate National Committee,
I am writing on behalf of the Pennsylvania Pirate Party to formally withdraw our membership from the Pirate National Committee, effective 10/18/2026.
This was not an easy decision, but it is the honest one.
The Pennsylvania Pirate Party does not currently meet the requirements for PNC membership. We have no active website, we have not held a meeting, and our social media presence has gone idle. We have supporters in western Pennsylvania and elsewhere in the state, but despite our efforts, we have not been able to bring them together for the reorganization meeting the party needs.
Until that happens, we cannot meaningfully take part in the PNC’s work, and it would not be fair to the other member parties to hold a seat we cannot fill.
This withdrawal is not an end to Pirate organizing in Pennsylvania. I hold the domain papirates.org and the founding documents, bylaws, and other materials developed during my tenure. I will keep them safe and transfer them to whoever leads the next iteration of the Pennsylvania Pirate Party, so that a reorganized party does not have to start from nothing.
If any PNC members know of Pennsylvania Pirates interested in reviving the party, please feel free to put them in touch with me.
Thank you for the work you do and for the support you have shown Pennsylvania over the years. I hope we will be able to rejoin as a fully active member party in the future.
Fair winds,
Drew Bingaman
PNC representative for Pennsylvania
Former Captain of the PA Pirates, and US Pirates
You can read the letter here. As a personal aside, I want to thank Drew for all he has done to help build the Pennsylvania Pirate Party, and thank you Drew for maintaining the heartbeat for whoever wishes to come and help assist and rebuild the PAPP.
If you are from PA and are interested in the rebuilding process, and you wish to get involved with the United States Pirate Party and Pirate National Committee, we are always an email away.
Thank you Drew. Victory is Arrrs.
